"In this clip we're going to be looking at why a high speed internet connection may not be as fast as what was advertised by your ISP. I'm not employed by or affiliated with any of the websites or products demonstrated today. If you feel that your internet connection speed is slower than the speed advertised by your provider when you signed up, you can run the test on your computer to find out what upload and download speeds you are currently getting. To do this you can go to speedtest.net. While the speed test is running there are a few things to keep in mind that affect the speed of your connection. The first is the distance the signal has to travel between your computer and your provider's home office. It acts as the distance between your computer and the webpage host server. Also the number of people using the server and trying to connect to a webpage can slow down response time. Also due to the fair access policy of most providers, your internet access can be slowed down depending on how much you upload or download during a given period of time. Okay. The test is done and we can see that the speeds, speedtest.net has shown our equivalent to the speed that I'm currently paying for through my ISP. And that's why your internet connection may not be as fast as advertised by your ISP."
