"In this clip, we're going to show you how to secure your wireless network. I'm not employed by or affiliated with any of the websites or products demonstrated today. Okay. The first thing you want to do is to get into the router's webpage. This allows us to control the settings for our router. And the settings for Linksys, you would type in your address bar the address 192.168.1.1. So we type that in there. Let's go ahead and visit this screen, and what that is is the log on information. And for Linksys, they have some default information. Basically, you're not going to need a user name. They have a default password which, in this case, we haven't changed yet. So we're going to put that information in and hit okay. Okay. Now that we've logged onto the homepage for Linksys, we're going to go up and select the wireless tab. That's going to bring up the wireless page. And on this location, we're going to check wireless security tab, and you'll notice that it brings up the security mode that this computer is set for. And you have a number of different choices, from disabled to WEP, which is the older setting and less secure than WPA. Make sure your computer has WPA personal, at least, as a level of security. Another step you'll want to take is to go from your main menu in your router's control panel, go over to administration, and go down and make sure that under remote management, you have that feature disabled so that people cannot remotely manage your router setup. And that's how you can secure your wireless network."
