"Hi. I'm Judy Carrier with Jewels by Park Lane. I'm going to talk to you about selling vintage jewelry. Well, first of all you have to determine what is vintage jewelry. It's not just old jewelry. All of us have old jewelry. We determine how old makes a big difference. For instance, if it's something you inherited from your grandmother, it came from a particular era, that's considered vintage. If it's just something that you're just tired of wearing but it's so last year, that's not. So what you do when you're going to be thinking about selling vintage jewelry, there's several things. First of all, go to shops that specialize in vintage clothing. That would be the first place that you might be able to sell your vintage jewelry. And often they'll let you do it on consignment, where you will share in the price that the shop actually sells the jewelry for. Another way would be to go on line. And again, if you have it appraised, you'll be able to get a lot more because having a written appraisal raises the value. Knowing the name of the stone, the type of metal and the era that it represents makes all the difference in the world. Vintage jewelry could be a gold mine. I hope it is for you. I'm Judy Carrier with Jewels by Park Lane."
