"Hi, my name is Windy St.George and this is how to care for your newly circumcised newborn. You should make sure that the diaper area is dry and change the diaper frequently. It's important to not leave him for long in a wet diaper. You can apply petroleum jelly or an ointment that your doctor gives you to keep the incision from adhering to the diapers at least for the first 4 to 5 days. You should not give the baby a bath during this time. You should only give sponge baths. Do not apply any lotions or powder to the area as it can cause irritation. If you notice any weeping or irritation or fever or discoloration, contact your doctor immediately. There are several methods of circumcision used in the United States so you should always follow the advice of your doctor as to how to care for method that was used for your son."
