"Hi, my name is Rebecca and I'm going to talk about how to make a fashion design portfolio. These days everybody's online so it's a good idea to have your portfolio in a form that you could take to interviews but, also some where on the internet or even on a file that you could email so that people can look at you before you even get to the interview. Some people have the tendency to want to put all the work they've ever done in their portfolio just to show how much they've done, not a good idea. Pick your best works, even have somebody a friend or a teacher help you pick out your best works in order to put them in because not only maybe the best design but, also the best rendering of that design. Variety in a portfolio can be a great idea, you never know what the employer is looking for. Something like fashion illustrations they look really great but, honestly you don't use them that much in day to day work so you're going to want to make sure that you have, technical drawings and other things that show your range of skill. If you do graphics, make sure you have some graphics on there and maybe a way to show how those graphics would be used in your designs. If you've ever done a full collection or even if you haven't but could put together the parts that would show the process of making a collection it's a good idea to show that you can do the whole fashion process. So the first thing you have of course is the trend collage, fabric design and selection, technical drawing of the garment, and then of course the photos of the final runway show. So one of the most important things to think about when making a design portfolio is to showcase a variety of your best work."
