"Hi, my name is Andrea Orta Mashburn and today I'm going to discuss widening baby bottle nipples. The first thing that you need to know when widening baby bottle nipples is that its dangerous for your infant. Typically if you widen the nipples on your own, this can prevent a couple of problems to occur. The first problem that you can have is that you're actually going to tear the nipple. By tearing the nipple, this means that you're not going to be able to use it in future feedings. The second problem that can occur is that when you widen the baby bottle nipple, you're actually going to be allowing too much of the formula to pass through the nipple. This can cause your child to possibly choke because they're getting too much formula or breast milk in their mouth at one time. If you purchase nipples at a grocery store or a baby needs store, you'll notice that there are certain settings for the nipples. When you go to a grocery store or a baby needs store and you're looking for a slow flow nipple, make sure that you find those that have been marked properly. Next if you're wanting the medium flow nipple, you'll go to the 3 to 6 month nipples. These are moving at a medium flow rate which will allow for the milk or the breast milk to flow at a medium flow. Finally the last nipple that you can use is what they call a fast flow nipple. This will allow for the liquid to pass through the nipple at a faster rate. So remember, be patient, be safe and always put your baby's needs first."
