Video Transcript

"My name is Ginger Barten. I'm a registered nurse and I live in Eugene, Oregon and this is where I work. How you become a nurse is you have to go to college. And there are several degrees. There's an AA degree, which is an associates. There is a BSN which is a four year program. A masters, which is usually a two year program, and in my case, I went to school for another year and became a family nurse practitioner. Those first months were very stressful on me, and, but that's when you start the basics, you know you have to have geometry, you have to have algebra, and then you move into your sciences, and when that's all completed you actually start nursing. So it takes a lot of schoolwork and a lot of hard work to become a nurse."
