"Rome will captivate you with its vast history and rich culture. Its moderate Mediterranean climate keeps the summers warm and the winters cold. Prepare for warm summers and cool winters and possible showers as well. So light clothes that are easy to layer will serve you very well. Include khakis, capris, pants, cotton t-shirts, linen shirts and a few sweaters, of course. Always roll the things you carry with you, you take with you. Don't fold them because then they won't get wrinkled that easily. Of course, the sunglasses will serve you well while in Rome while visiting the most outstanding sites of the city, so don't forget about the sunglasses. Bring an umbrella when visiting during summer and fall and a raincoat to be taken is very wise since the month October is the wettest in Rome. Bring good walking shoes as there are numerous sites to visit in Rome which are world famous. Women dress conservatively and hose and pumps are expected. Women keep skirts knee length. Think dressy casual for dining out or enjoying the opera. Women will impress in a nice dress while men might opt for slacks and a button down shirt."
