"Hello my name is Chris Ardolina and I'm a golf instructor here at the Jim Mclean golf school located at the Doral resort and spa in Miami, Florida. In this clip today we are going to talk about the official rules of golf. And what I have with me is two different books. I have the rules of golf, and the decisions on the rules of golf. And these are very important books that I think each of us should have in their golf bag that will help us govern our games and play better golf. Ok now remember golf is a little bit different where rules and other sports are governed by officials or referees and things like that. Where in golf we are our own officials. So it's an honor code game. And that's why it's very important to keep these books in your golf bag ok. And what we are going to do today is I'm going to teach you how to use these books properly. Cause a lot of people don't know what they are doing when they look at these books because they looked at it and it looks like a big mess. But really there's an organized method to how to use these things. So we are going to take the small one for instance, the official rules of golf. Ok. And what we are going to do here is what you want to do at first is you want to figure out what your rule infraction is. Whether it's out of bounds or in the water ok. Figuring out what your rules infraction is, then you are going to take this rules of, official rule book and go to the back to where it says index. Ok. You are going to find your situation in the index, ok, and then it will give you on this side here, it will give you a rule number and a page number. Ok. So then you are going to go right to that area and you can find out what your ruling is, whether it's a two stroke penalty or one stroke penalty, re-tee, free drop things like that. So remember go to the index first then go to the rule. It will really help you find out what you are doing and what you need to do. Ok.
