Video Transcript

"Did you know that fruit flies don't bite people? They're just attracted to fruit. Hi, I'm Lauren Roy from Sugar Hollow Farm in Phillipston, Mass and I'm going talk to you about prevention of fruit flies in your house and demonstrate how to make a fruit fly trap. Fruit flies come into the kitchen in late August because there's a lot of fruit around and they can they are attracted to the sugar. So, if you want to get rid of fruit flies in your kitchen, you can keep a clean dish rag make sure you wipe up any spills and take some baking soda and cider vinegar and put it down your drain and rinse it thoroughly. You can also prevent fruit flies in the bathroom by keeping your towels dry taking face clothes and putting them in the laundry and keeping that room generally clean. If you want to make a fruit fly trap, you can take a jar and some cider vinegar and make a little paper cone and put it in the top of the jar. The fruit flies will be attracted to the cider vinegar and they will get into the jar but they can't get out. So, you can take them when you got enough in there and dump it outside or get rid of it whatever way you want. I don't suggest letting them free because they'll just come back into the house and that's how you make a fruit fly trap. So, this has been Lauren Roy of Sugar Hollow Farm telling you about fruit fly prevention."
