Waxing is not the only way to remove unwanted hair. Egyptians practiced depilating (shaving or cutting off hair at the skin) their entire bodies in attempts to prevent infestations of lice and fleas. Requirements for shaving or cutting the hair are part of many religious and cultural traditions. In America and the West, deliberate hair removal has become more common for aesthetic, sexual, or political reasons. Waxing off hair with a solution of hot wax is also a popular hair removal strategy. Females, especially, are expected to shape their eyebrows into lines or arcs, gracefully crafting the hairs to appear more attractive to the male gaze. Many women find such cultural norms to be oppressive and evidence of patriarchal sexual politics. Because of this, some women shave their heads or refuse to shave or sculpt body hair in efforts to resist the expectations of society. "We're going to talk about how to get waxed like a pro. And there are some simple steps that you can take to ensure that that's going to make a successful waxing appointment for you. And how you would do that number one is depending upon the area of your body that you're going to be waxed we're going to talk about each separate area. If you're having your eyebrows or facial hair waxed then what we're going to ask is that you don't apply cosmetics around those areas because you could be having your lip waxed or anything like that and you don't want to apply cosmetics to those areas immediately before that procedure. One thing you can do however to make that procedure go smoothly and and better is actually you can exfoliate and moisturize those areas about 24 to 48 hours prior to that appointment. And if you're actually having your underarms waxed an exfoliation would also be very helpful. For all waxing appointments you want to be able to have the maximum results so I recommend not having any other hair removal service or type of hair removal home remedy done, no chemical depilatory creams or no shaving at least 2 to 4 weeks prior to the appointment depending on where the waxing is taking place. If you're having the bikini area waxed for an example definitely the exfoliation 24 to 48 hours prior, moisturizing, keeping the hair trimmed to at least a quarter of an inch before you see your service provider. And which is very important because when you are waxing that area it's difficult to get a clean line if the hair is longer. So it's very very important to keep it to a quarter of an inch and to be freshly showered when you come in. When you're doing the legs a good exfoliation 24 hours prior to the service and a good moisturizing that same time would be excellent to ensure you get a very good wax. And that would be pretty much all that you need to do before you have a waxing service done."
