Making an international phone call can be quite expensive, depending on an individual's telephone service provider. On top of the cost, one must be familiar with the procedure of dialing out of the United States. It can be tricky, but with proper guidance, phone calls overseas will become second nature. In this free video series on international calls, a full-service travel agent demonstrates how to dial up countries like Switzerland, Germany and Poland. All international calls from the U.S. begin with zero-one-one, which notifies the local telephone carrier that the call is international. Next the caller must dial a country code, followed by a city code before dialing the resident's actual telephone number. Get familiar with this four-step process with these helpful tips.
"Yes, I think we could do that very easily. Thank you very much. Hi everyone, my names Russ Handler and did you know that calling an international number from the United States actually consists of four separate numbers? That's right, especially if you're calling Germany. Here's how, first of all calling Germany you're going to have to dial zero one one. That tells your local carrier that you're dialing an international number. There's then a city code. In this case, or rather a country code, is this case Germany is forty nine. You'll then have to enter a city code. That depends on what city you're dialing of course, and then of course the number beyond that. So keep in mind when dialing Germany, zero one one four nine is the country code. There will then be a two to three sometimes a four digit city code, and then of course your number. And that's how you dial Germany. My Name's Russ Handler and thank you very much for joining us today."
