on 2/28/2009 snakes dont like glass, wooden enclosures are much better, they dont overheat and their easier to clean, use newspaper as ur bedding and dont bother about wood chips or fake plants, they'll just get dirty and you will spend hours every week cleaning them. Looks like this Pet store guy should stick to fish

"Where can I keep a snake? Well, you can keep snakes in lot of different types of enclosures, really, as long as you can meet their environmental needs and they're escape proof, your imagination is the limit. There's anything from these kind of large commercial housing units that can be purchased, they're quite expensive though, and these are modular, there's lot of different smaller systems, you can break it up. Or if you follow me this way, I can show you, there are multitudes of different sizes, shapes and styles of glassed aquariums that people keep snakes in. And 90 percent of the time that's what someone is going to keep a snake in, it's going to be a glass aquarium of some sort, they're readily available, they're easy to buy, and they're not all that expensive. Also lots of people do build custom enclosures out of say, wood, if they're handy, or you can also purchase ones that are laser cut out of plastic. So really, there's many, many different options when you're looking for a home for a snake, the real key is making sure you can meet its environmental needs first, and then aesthetically meet your needs."
