How to Call South Korea From the United States

So, you want to dial an international number. Did you know that in many cases, there are four separate numbers that you actually have to dial? Yeah, let's take a look at South Korea for instance. In this case, to call South Korea, we're going to dial zero, one, one. That will get you out of our country, that's the code to tell your local carrier that you want an international submarine or satellite extension. Eight, two, is the country code, and then, you've also got to dial a city code or area code. In this case, let's say you want to dial Seoul, that would be two, and then you need to dial your number. So, let's dial South Korea. Zero, one, one, gets us out of the country. Eight, two, gets us into South Korea. We're going to dial Seoul, so, we're going to press two, for the city code, and then the number five, five, five, eight, nine, six, three. It's that simple. Keep in mind when you dial South Korea, they have in recent years, really upgraded their telecommunications. They share satellites with some neighboring countries, and some submarine cables as well.
