"Pullen Park is a seventy two acre, public park in Raleigh, North Carolina, west of downtown, adjacent to the campus of North Carolina State University, between Western Boulevard and Hillsborough Street. Pullen Park has a long history that began in 1887, when Richard Stanhope Pullen, donated the land to the city for use, as a public park. The park features numerous picnic areas, and shelters, a concession stand, tennis courts, an indoor pool, a large playground, and a few smaller rides, including the historic Pullen Park carousel, a train, and kiddie boats. In addition, there are paddle boats for rent by the half hour, for use on Pullen's lake. The train, the boats, and the carousel, are all ok for adults to ride, but the kiddie boats are specifically for young children. Five minutes from the busy downtown, and just across the street from a major university, Pullen Park serves as a haven for children and adults alike, in reaching the natural world."
