"The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is located in Raleigh's downtown, just north of the state capitol building. It sits opposite the North Carolina Museum of History, on the Bicentennial Mall. The Museum is open seven days a week, year-round, and general admission is free to the public. The purpose of the North Carolina State Museum of Natural Sciences is to enhance the public's understanding and appreciation of the natural environment, in ways that emphasize the biodiversity of North Carolina, and the southeastern United States, and relate the region to the natural world as a whole. Four stories tall, the Museum covers a wide range of North Carolina-related topics, from the ecology of North Carolina's natural habitats to dinosaurs and fossils, to live animal exhibits. On the fourth floor is the Acro Cafe, open daily, serving breakfast and lunch."
