"So you might be interested in becoming a certified nursing assistant for hospice. I'm Sandi Sunter with The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, here with my colleague, Patsy Abbott. Hello. If you're interested in becoming certified in your specialty of a hospice nursing assistant, the National Board of Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses is offering an exam that you can gain your credentials of CHPNA, Certified Hospice and Palliative Nursing Assistant. The Board does recommend that you have two years experience in hospice and palliative care with patients and families at end of life. They feel that you'll be better prepared for the test this way. The test is designed for someone with this two years' experience. It was a job analysis done by CNAs and the content was designed by CNAs. The test itself is comprised of 110 questions. 10 of them are non-scored. The test actually has four parts. You'll be tested on patient and family care. You'll be tested on psychosocial and spiritual care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and ethics roles and responsibilities of the nursing assistant. There's more information for you on the website www.hpna.org. If you're interested, they have an application you can complete, and they have a handbook you can download. The application includes test sites, directions to the test sites, test dates, sample questions so you can gain confidence about the test. So if you're interested in gaining more information in your specialty of becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant, check website www.org for more information. Thank you. I'm Patsy Abbott with The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast."
