"Now there are different ways to basically handle inking with pen. I'm kind of want to demonstrate both on our area. The first actually way to do it is a little interesting. It's using colored pencils. Often times people will think of things just like oh well it's pen or pencil you know you can't have both. Bull corn, you can absolutely have both. Often times colored pencils can offer a slightly different texture which can actually come out more and be more striking in your shading. Then just straight pen would be as evidenced by some of the work we are doing here on our cape. You kind of like an active more etching like you know, slightly a little bit outside of the border effect here with colored pencils. You just can't quite get the same effect with pen. It's just not the same. Of course you can do the inking and additional details in very, very, fine tipped felt pen. This is going to have to be very fined tipped. Because of the details for example in like in and around the eyes that we are going to be working on to make you know Superman have a little bit more of a frown. Little more of a look of concern on his face. Or also in and around the eyes, so we are basically framing those, to make those stand out. The shape of the eye. You can see how we wouldn't' want these to be very thick lines. The nostrils, the side of the nose. This is work where if you had a really super thick inking pen, just would not work out at all. You can also use fine tip pens to go over an add other details to areas you've inked over. Just in terms of texture. Like here if I want to add some hair strands, to further define Superman's hair I can do that very easily and it's a very subtle effect. It's actually very hard to see unless you are looking for it. I can also use this to emphasize certain lines, like for example the jaw line while leaving, excuse me the chin, while leaving the rest of the jaw line undefined to make the chin come out at the viewer. These are just a variety of different like shadowing and shading techniques you can do to further like ink your product to make it more like life size features. I definitely will say that it's not good to stop just after you are done kind of coloring on the base layer, usually there are other things and emphasis that you can add after you are done coloring which is going to make for a much stronger superhero more dynamic, more engaged, and more super."
