Series Summary

Halloween is a great holiday for fun and festivities that the whole family can enjoy. Dating back to the fifth century B.C. in Celtic Ireland, Halloween originally may have developed on a day when the Celts believed that spirits could intermingle with the living. While this superstition may no longer apply, the fun and excitement of the whole experience has led to the modern day celebrations of Halloween. Today, the Halloween holiday is full of children and adults dressing up in costumes. Many people carve Halloween pumpkins to make Jack-O-Lanterns, and all love the excuse to decorate their house with fake spider webs, bats, ghosts and other ghoulish delights. In this free video series on Halloween, a professional costume designer and makeup artist discusses several Halloween costume ideas for both children and adults. Find out how to make a great fairy outfit, vampire attire and character garb using clothing from the closet as well as a few homemade pieces. Use things lying around the house to create ghoulish decorations, fairy or insect wings and fun props to finish off any costume. Go all out this year for All Hallow's Eve, creating a one-of-a-kind costume to wow friends and family.

"How to be Autumn for Halloween. Well, I think you need to first decide what Autumn is to you. I certainly think that Autumn is a variety of our lovely Autumn shades. And you could take that scenario to many different looks. We've done a lovely Autumn fairy here. But you could do many different looks from Autumn. There is very easy to do Autumn toga princess kind of assortment looks. A toga one would be like an Autumn goddess. That would be done very nicely with just a simple sheet around the shoulder and a fun little laurel leaf kind of style Autumn hair wreath. Or you could be creative and do an Autumn queen tire like look and take Autumn leaves and put them all over an expensive crown. Maybe take a sheet and put some leaves all over that with some hot glue and have yourself a really nice Autumn queen or princess whatever your desire is, but to do a simple Autumn fairy as we have here, you just simply want to go into your closet and find lots of fun Autumn colored things that'll work great with and Autumn scenario and we've got lots of fun stuff. We've got just a basic skirt out of the closet maybe another skirt that you find either at the thrift store or in the closet. You can shred it up. Something very easy that you can just do by cutting into it either with the scissors or shredding it apart depending the different looks that you would like. Here is just a fun leafy print shanice top that we found. Any thing would work that is you know fun blousy, fairy stuff. An off-white cream shirt would be just as easy. You could do the shred thing on that as well. Something fun, a vest of some sort in the middle, perhaps some sashes, whatever your fairy is. There's no wrong and rights when it comes to making fairies. I think we just need to stay with your theme of Autumn. Of course you'd want some winged fairies. Wings are usually a very important part of a fairy. But not necessarily even that is needed as some fairies do without wings as well, since they're magic. So, but wanted to definitely want to finish off your Autumn look, your Autumn fairy look with some fun bling or glitter or gems, all easily applied with just your finger or brush, whatever you have around the house that will work just as well. Q-tips, any of those things. You want to add some fun you know nail polish color you know to give your fairy some fun fingernails. Anything as far as you know an assortment of different kind of glitters of course can be used all over the body. Legs, arms, necks, wherever it is you want you glitter from your fairy. You can also apply gems or tattoos. We've applied a tattoo as you can see, a lovely butterfly and glittered it up. Gems can be easily applied with the eyelash glue, any kind. It doesn't matter if it is a clear or black, just you know with tweezers and some great gems. You can glue those on wherever you'd like as well. And the tattoos rub off nice and easy. So those make great easy perfect makeup applications for fairies. And of course you'll want to do something fun for the hair you can always roll it, tease it, whatever. Add some fun decorations to really finish it off. There's flowers. There's all kinds of great things. And I'll just go out into the front yard if it's Halloween time as it is and pick some wonderful Autumn leaves off the ground and spray those with some glitter and apply those as well. You can also glue those all over the place. Feathers are also another wonderful thing that you can do with fairies. You know sticking those anywhere, even on the whigs. Don't forget about the wonderful feathers. And that is how to be Autumn."
