"Hello, my name is Athena Reich and I'm an actress and acting coach here in New York City. In this clip I'm going to talk about how to prepare for auditions. If you go to backstage.com or actorsequity.org, you can find lists and lists of audition breakdowns. So here's a breakdown and I've actually printed it out and so it says the name of the show, it says its an equity principle audition so you have to be union to audition unless you go there very early and you wait in line you might be seen even if you're non-union. Now it tells you the preparation right here. Prepare a brief, dramatic or comic monologue by Middleton, Shakespeare or from a similar versed play from the same period and genre. So every audition is going to give you specific directions. Basically do what they say. Don't go in there and do a contemporary monologue, it will tarnish your reputation. So just follow their directions right here. It will give you the location, the time, its says 9:30. If you're auditioning in New York City, I suggest you get there at least one or two or three hours before the called time if you want to make sure that you are seen. This has been Athena Reich on how to prepare for auditions."
