Hello. My name is Athena Reich, and I'm an actress and acting coach here in New York City. In this clip, I'm going to talk about how to get professional headshots. Your headshots are your biggest marketing tool. It's really important that they fit industry standard. First of all, headshots need to be in color. It's a close-up, as you can see. And you want an expression that looks very relaxed, that looks like yourself. But very relaxed, not too showy or anything, because you want the producer and the casting director to be able to project the character onto you. So you're sort of a blank canvas. And it's really important to spend that extra money and go with somebody who's very experienced. You choose a photographer. Often it will cost at least a thousand dollars to get your headshots done. And that's a regular price. If you go with the cheaper ones, be very careful, because the quality and the expression will not be as professional as you need. It's so important that the expression is professional and relaxed and up to industry standards. This has been Athena Reich, in New York City.
