"There are many important things that we need to consider when we're trying to fight gum disease. The first and foremost is being able to see the dentist so they can correctly identify and diagnose gum disease in its truest form. By doing that we can basically diagnose what is causing the gum disease, and determine a systematic way of treating it. It will start out typically with something like deep cleanings we also call scaling and root planing. That will be the first step in help fighting gum disease; by going in there and manually removing any sort of buildup and debris around the gums. That is step one. Step two is to basically get into a way of reevaluating to see how the gums are responding to that. So, there is an initial treatment that the dentist provides, but even more importantly the patient is responsible for help fighting the gum disease by home care and hygiene. And what I mean by that is the brushing and flossing becomes even more of an influential procedure, and to your daily routine. By a combination of going to the dentist getting diagnosed, and getting regular treatment and checkups, as well as being going at home and working on hygiene, improving on your brushing and flossing, using the correct home care guides and aids one can fight gum disease with a great tremendous amount of success."
