Writing an E-Book

"Hi, I'm Laura from YoungWritersWorkshops.com, and I'm going to talk about writing an e-book. An e-book is a book that's available electronically. This means that it won't be available in most standard bookstores, and it's a little bit different, you're not going to market it the same way. So, I think the first step in writing an e-book is to establish that this is definitely the format that's right for what you're writing. Think about who is going to want to read this book, and if an electronic format is going to be appealing to that person. If you're writing a book that you think will really appeal to children, or very young people, it may not be the best fit. So think about your audience and if an electronic format is right for you. Your next step is similar to writing any book is to actually create the content. Now, with an e-book you have a wide variety of publishing software that you can choose from, so you may choose at this point to research the advantages or disadvantages of e-book software that's out there. There are a couple of places online, you can Google and find the marketplace where you can see the pros and cons of various software. Once you've created the e-book, your next step is marketing it. And you can create a website of your own to sell your book, or you can work with Amazon or another online book retailer to sell your book. So those are some ideas about how to write an e-book."
