"Hi, I'm Laura from youngwritersworkshops.com, I'm going to talk about what to write in a birthday card. When you are writing a birthday card for someone you're really wanting to express your feelings for them, and express your wanting to share in the celebration of their birthday. It's a great way - it's a great opportunity to tell someone something that - that you care for them, something nice, something you might not say everyday, but the birthday is sort of an occasion that gives you that opportunity, so start by wishing them a happy birthday. Give them also a wish for their coming year, perhaps something personal that relates to something that they're hoping for that you've shared. Or just a general wish like I hope that this coming year is full of joy and peace for you. Sum it up by wishing them a happy day, and sign it love your name or best wishes with a comma, and then your name. It's often a good idea to write the date in the birthday, some people like to keep their birthday cards so if you include the date of that birthday then later they'll remember which particular birthday that this card was in celebration of. So in summary, give the person - wish them a happy birthday, give them a wish for the coming year. Express your emotions for them, and be sure to include the date."
