"Hi, I'm Laura from Youngwritersworkshops.com, and I'm going to talk about writing a teaching resume. Writing a resume is like writing a little bit of an autobiography, because you're telling about yourself, this is your chance to let a potential employer or principal get to know you. So you want to make sure that this resume really illustrates some of your strengths and really gives a good picture of who you are. You might want to enlist the help of a reader, or someone to give you a little bit of help so - to make sure you don't miss anything. Sometimes it can be hard to be objective in writing your resume, so the more you can draw on other peoples' input, the stronger your resume may be. Start with your heading which includes your contact information, then the first section of your resume should be your profile where you'll tell a little bit about your strengths. A couple phrases or sentences that describe your strength and sum you up. You'll want to next include your education, where you received your degree and your teaching credentials. Any other graduate work that you've done. The next section will be your experience as it relates to teaching. And if you're - this is your first teaching job that you're seeking, you can include other work experience that's been relevant to children, perhaps working in a childcare center or working at a non-profit where you had contact with children, a summer camp, so be sure when you're describing - list your experience you also include specifically what you did with kids and what was really - what was similar to teaching in that role. So that you can illustrate ways that you've had some education related experience. Create another section called skills where you list a little bit more about what your strengths are, what your strong areas are, what you have done and what you have accomplished. Next include your references, you'll want to include someone who is familiar with your teaching skills and preferably someone that has observed you as a teacher or worked with you with children. And those are some ideas about how to write a teaching resume."
