"Ok the first step in figuring out this beat is really to know that it's based on sixteenth notes and the hands, I'm going to lead with my left hand, or basically just doing this. One, and a two and a three and four and a....In this particular case the bass drum is just playing quarter notes, so to get a feel for this we don't have to add any accents. We can bring those out later. I'm just going to be playing sixteenth notes on my tom, on my floor tom, and playing quarter notes with the bass drum. So to show you how this relates to what we are doing I'll start with that again which is what you should start with, and I'll slowly start to add in and bring out the accents of the pattern."
