"So now we're going to take a look and really break down our fill here. So if we take a look at the music, the best way to explain the fill, is say we're going to do a fill in this measure, we're going to stop somewhere in here, and just put in our own notes, and then we're going to lay it back on this down beat right here in this group. So say we'll start our fill right here and I'm going to go through it, and really want to do it in our mind first, before we even approach the drums, so then we already have an idea of what to play. So we got, boom, boom, ja, pachoom, ja, ba boom, boom, ba doo bi da, doo bi do. So you notice I always come right back on this down beat, and that's really the cue to the fill. And no matter how much room I have, I can put any amount of rhythms in there, I just got to really feel it and hear it out, and it's really hearing it out and having a good ear that will really pull it all together, and really get that feel down, and that will help you develop your own style of fills, and get your own fill thing going on."
