"Hi I'm Les Whitley and I would like to talk to you right now about improving your one mile race time. The mile again for most novice runners is something that everyone can go after pretty easily but to drop those times to a certain level if you watch those top runners and they are under that four minute mark it requires a lot of technique, a lot of analysis to see where your improvements can be made. For those who have great running gait, nice long relaxed style you may focus on the start and getting out stronger and more powerfully. Others may find that they tighten up midway through so you work on learning to relax not only the lower body by elongating your stride but relaxing the upper body into a more efficient style. Using your upper body as well as your lower body to drive more force into the ground, repel your body forward through space becomes a key component as well. Identifying a good running coach, someone who can watch you run to point out those areas of opportunity where you can improve. Spending time, actually running distances, running the race as the mile is kind of a sprint mixed with a longer distance as well. So you want to have a great start, get into an efficient running position, maximizing the effort that you are putting into it by taking your time, running efficiently you can drop those times in no time at all."
