"So, in this series, much the same as I did with the first two rock drumming series. Just so we can hear the instruments better, I'm going to be putting a CD on my snare drum, to kind of dampen the sound a little. It's going to let us hear all the pieces of the drum set better. We wouldn't do this in normal playing. Also with every example, I'll play it for you, playing 8th notes on the hi-hat. One, two, three, four. Playing 8th notes on the ride symbol, and the hi-hat with my foot. One, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, and playing quarter notes on the hi-hat. One, two, three, four. One, two, three , four. There's certainly countless other ride hi-hat patterns, that we could play with these examples. Just for the sake of giving you three different ways of interpreting these beats, I'll do these three, but you can certainly feel free to use any that you want. You can play the hi-hat on the ands. One, and two, and three, and four, and one, and two, and three, and four, or any other combination that you want, so try them out. I'll play all the examples, with these three."
