"Congratulations, you've made it through the interviewing process and now you've got a job offer. How do you negotiate to get the best possible amount? My name is Gloria Campbell. I'm with Advantage Training Systems in St. Petersburg, Florida and there are many many ways that you can negotiate to make sure you get the best job offer. One of the things that you want to do is do some research. Know what the job pays, know what the company pays. Have an idea of what the salary range is. Also, you may want to know how many other candidates were in the running for the job. If it was only two or three of you then you probably have a pretty good chance of negotiating. Also, take a look at what your skill level is. Whatever the job offer is know what you need, know what other companies are paying, know what your peers are getting, and make sure that give the employer a range within which you can work. What will normally happen is that they'll come back somewhere in the middle. The other cautions I would give you is that whatever salary amount you come up with, whether it's a combination of salary plus commission, be prepared to live with it. The worst thing you can do is to come back later and ask for more money. My name is Gloria Campbell. I'm with Advantage Training Systems in St. Petersburg, Florida. Be prepared. Negotiate the best salary that you can get, the best package that you can get and you'll make a great employee."
