"Hi, I'm Ross Skruland of Lake Lessons, and we're going to go over the whirlybird. First of all, once you're going to move onto the whirlybird, I would like for you to have a very solid wake to wake jump, including going straight into the air. I want it to be very poppy, and very smooth. You should be able to spot your landing every time. As you're coming off and you're squaring off, and leading. Now the whole thing with the whirlybird, is that the whirlybird is technically a tantrum with a backside 360 overhead spin. Pretty much when you are doing that tantrum, you;re going into a backside spin. Now, just like you would a tantrum, you;re going to come in with that hard edge, and once you get to the bottom of the edge, you are squaring off. The difference between the whirlybird and the tantrum is tat you;re going to be squaring off a little more. You want that handle really close in. If that handle gets out, you're going to have no way of getting that handle over your head. Square off twice as hard, and the handle is going to be right here. And then once you get into the tantrum, then you want to do your spin. The whole motion, once you get in the air, you want to bring the handle across your face. That end result will turn you into the spin like this, and be able to see your landing and pull you around. Stick that handle back at that front hip, and cushion that landing. That's going to help you get that whirlybird right into position, so you can ride away softly. And that's how you do a whirlybird."
