"My name's Staff Sergeant Hawkins. I'm a local army recruiter based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Today, I'm going to talk about the U.S. Army officer pay scale. The officer pay scale starts at a lieutenant and second lieutenant and goes all the way through four or five star generals. We currently don't have any five star generals in the Army, but you get the point I'm trying to talk about here. And if you...we have a chart. It's called our basic pay chart. It starts at second lieutenant and your pay as a second lieutenant starting out first day as a lieutenant is 2,555.70 per month. You...as you get through these ranks, you automatically, every two years, you're going to get a raise within that rank. Also, as you progress in your career, you're also going to get promoted from a second lieutenant to a first lieutenant. That is also a pay raise. When you go from first lieutenant to captain, another pay raise, so on and so forth, all the way up your general ranks. Like I said, every two years, you're going to receive another bump in pay. Also, every year, Congress gives us another bump in pay -- usually the first of the year every year. And if you'd like to learn more about the officer pay scale, please give me a call at 801-487-8686."
