"My name is Staff Sergeant Hawkins, I'm a US army recruiter here based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Today I'm going to talk about how to become an army ranger. We have a couple of different routes to become an army ranger. You come into my office as a high school senior or anybody under the age of twenty-eight, and actually if you're older than the age of twenty-eight I can possibly get you an age waiver, just depending on what kind of background that you have and what kind of physical condition you're in. But let's say you're a high school senior, you come to me, if you have the test scores which is the ASVAB score, the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, that's a test you have to take to join the army, if you can qualify for infantry, and you have the desire to be an army ranger, I can possibly get you that job. It's physically demanding, it is a tough job, and it is for the elite. Those soldiers are definitely top of the line at what they do, they are the experts. If you're also already in the army as an infantry soldier, you can work towards and actually volunteer for and request to become a ranger. These guys are the elite. You see these guys on television, you see these guys in the movies, and these guys actually do the real deal. These guys are the ones in Afghanistan facing down the bad guys in Iraq, they're doing what they do. And it is a dangerous job, it is not something that is meant for everybody. You are definitely the top of the field at what you do, you are an expert infantry soldier. And they are the tambores, when you see these guys they are definitely noticeable. They carry themselves with a professional infantry attitude and discipline that you won't see anywhere else in the world.
