"Hi, my name is Veronica Baragas with MyWigglesandGiggles.com and I'd like to share with you a checklist for starting a daycare. Now initially I think that there's probably like a master checklist that you can probably start. When I started my daycare center, I had numerous checklists from like the playground checklist, the equipment checklist, office supply checklist, advertising checklist, I mean every single topic is going to have a checklist and that's the way to go. I mean you know you want to double check everything and make sure that you have everything itemized. One of the ones that I would pretty much start with is like a startup costs. Definitely get a checklist of you know, what requirements are going to be regulated by the state and checking with your department of family protective services, they'll definitely give you during orientation so that would be on your checklist you know to attend an orientation and they'll give you more detailed as far as like minimum standards, rules and regulations, zoning requirements, health inspections, food program, things like that. So definitely get that orientation going. Get a startup cost checklist. All your equipment, things like that. Make sure that you have anything possible that you can think of. If you're starting a daycare then you're probably have a pretty good knowledge of the childcare industry and whatnot and hopefully some business background. So think of everything possible that entails or it involves opening or running a day to day daycare. And just start of from there and then start little checklists from there. So definitely the best way to start out is to check with your department of family and protective services to get that orientation because they're going to give you every single information possible in opening a daycare."
