Series Summary

Cell phones might just be the biggest boon to (or bane of) modern human communication. With the ability to reach practically anyone in the world at the touch of a few buttons, it seems like we are taking a giant step forward towards the grand “future of tomorrow” that was sold to our parents and grandparents back in the 1950s. Cellular, satellite-based communication has largely begun to replace the land-based telephone system of yesteryear, pushing the giant telecommunications companies to consolidate, re-purpose and retool to adapt to the new market—faster, cheaper and more convenient being the mantra of the cellular age. In this free series of videos on making international phone calls, travel guide Sarah Sathmari explains how to dial different countries, as well as how to call home from different locations throughout the world. Sathmari demonstrates how knowing the international access codes and country codes can help people make these international phone calls. She's explain how to contact people in Italy, Greece, France, Germany and even Bulgaria. She'll also explain how to dial the U.S. from these countries and many more throughout the world. Watch these free videos and learn to make international phone calls today.

"Are you really planning to travel to Austria now that you see the Hofberg or you want to take part in an opera? No problem. You can do that of course, but first of all you've go to make a plan and secondly, maybe, you'll have to call Austria. So listen please, how you can make a phone call from the United States to Austria. First of all, determine what time it is in Austria. Secondly, you have to know that Austria is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. Which means that Austria is 6 hours ahead than it is on the East coast of the United States and 9 hours ahead, than it is on the West coast of the United States. So if you'd like to call Austria, first of all you have to dial the international access code, which is 011. Secondly, you have to dial Austria's country code which is 43. After all, in case you have to dial 0222, it must be Vienna. In this case, you have to drop all the 4-digits and replace them with a 1. In case the number doesn't start with 0222, then it's not Vienna at all, then you just simply have to skip the 0, the initial 0, and dial the number. Then please dial the remaining digits of the telephone number, the personal telephone number. It's that easy."
