"When buying your fist horse, having an experienced professional with you is probably the most important part of the process. You need to make sure that the horse that you're buying is well suited for your gaols, and also is going to have the temperament and rideability that's going to give you the confidence that you should get from your fist horse. When you arrive to look at your horse, you want to make sure that it looks calm and easy to work around. You want to make sure that your trainer looks at the confirmation of the horse and gives it the okay, and then you want to make sure that when it's ridden, it looks safe and it looks calm so that when you go to ride it you're going to feel safe. If you're buying your first horse, I would recommend looking at the horse a couple times if it's a horse that you think you're interested in. The second time you come, ask if you can groom it and do the tacking up, that way you'll get a real feel for what the horse is actually like. The last thing you have to do whenever you buy a horse is make sure that you get it vet checked. Making sure that it's sound and healthy is so important."
