"My name is Anthony Maddaloni, and I'm going to be talking about how to become a cameraman. Now, one of the cool things about photography, is just all different types of photography. There's still photography, there's film photography, there's videography. Different types of genres that it's broken up to, but being a camera person or a cameraman, basically is someone who is going to be using a camera, to make a film or document a project. Basically, you're working as a technician behind a camera, to be able to capture something, capture images. One of the best ways to do this, is spend a day on a set, and see what a cameraman does. It is not a really easy job. It's actually something that requires a pretty high level of technical skill, knowing both lighting, direction, editing. It could be a whole mishmash of things, that you have to know, rather than just being behind a camera, and taking some pictures. That's one bit of advice I give to people, spend a day. There are also a number of really good schools that one can go to, to learn. It's a profession really, on how to become a camera person, but one of the best ways again, is to see what it's like, spend a day, maybe get an internship, maybe hang around a studio. Offer to get coffee, sweep floors, answer phones, and get maybe some training on site, rather than going to school. That's one way that I know quite a few people, who became great professionals, just learning the tricks of the trade, from hanging around production studios, so those are some ways you can become a cameraman."
