"My name is Anthony Maddaloni and I'm going to be talking about how to make cyanotypes today. Now a cyanotype is a print that you can make outside in the sun. And it's basically a photographic emulsion that you paint onto watercolor paper or fabric that you let dry. And that you can use a couple of different techniques to make images from. One of the simplest techniques is to use what's called a photogram. Now what this is, is just the outline of the image that you can place on the light sensitive paper. And to me, this is brilliant in its simplicity. Meaning that you don't need a negative. You don't even need a camera. You can do it with any kind of object. And lately, I've enjoyed using people. I've been taking my hands or outlines of friends and laying down the paper in the sun and developing it in water and peroxide to make a beautiful blue image. And that is how you would make a cyanotype."
