How to Distort a Picture With Photoshop

I'm a photographer and digital retouching artist here in New York City. In this clip we're going to talk about how to distort a picture using Photoshop. Well I've already opened the picture here which we're going to have some fun with. And your purposes for distorting a picture may be very different than somebody else's but everybody can use this particular method. What you do is you go to select all, a marque around the entire image. I would go copy and paste. That's sort of a lazy way of creating another layer. And you can click on the i icon on the background and that leaves the background untouched and invisible. And then we can go to edit, transform, distort. Now you've got these little handles on the sides of the marque which allow you to do any number of different distortions to a picture. Now again, you may have your reasons for doing this, somebody else may have completely different reasons and want to do it completely differently. But these handles, as you drag, click and drag them, it will allow you to do all sorts of distortion effects with your picture. Now I think that's just lovely. This gives me sort of an egg headed look, don't you think? Anyway, for whatever you might want to do, that's how you distort. Just drag and drop these handles until you've achieved the desired affect. And you'll know what that is when you've achieved it.
