"Adobe Photoshop is a registered trademark of Adobe Systems Incorporated. I am in no way affiliated with Adobe. Hi, I'm Steve Anthony. I'm a photographer and digital retouching artist here in New York City. In this clip we're going to talk about how to shrink a picture in Photoshop. Now shrinking a picture, well obviously this picture is too big for my screen. Looking at this image in a hundred percent size, so the easiest way to do this is go to your image fly out and select image size. And first of all, if you're looking at it on your computer you might want to change the resolution to seventy-two pixels and that might do the trick. Now there you go. See that resized the image to fit on my desktop. Now, that's only one way to do it. I'm going to change back to what I had. Now I'm going to show you a different way to do it. Also using image size. But changing the actual document size, not just the resolution, but let's say I just want it to be a two inch, a six inch wide by four inch wide picture. Well that brings it more into size. Now you can still see if I go to full resolution that's still probably larger than you'd want it to be for your purposes. But those are the two best ways of doing it. You can also using fit screen to shrink the image on your actual screen right now it's still a very big image but you can also just transform the image by doing select all, edit cut, edit paste which puts it into a new layer. And then you can transform the image by selecting scale and just visually hold down the shift key and that keeps it in proportion to itself. And that's another way of shrinking a picture. Hit enter when it's the size that you want just visually, then of course you want to see how it looks in full screen, full resolution, and that's basically it. Pretty simple. Try it, see what works best for you. I'm Steve Anthony, this has been how to shrink a picture in Photoshop."
