"Adobe Photoshoppe is a registered of Adobe Systems Incorporated. I am in no way affiliated with Adobe. Hi, I am Steve Anthony. I'm a photographer and digital retouching artist here in New York City. In this clip, we're going to talk about how to make a romantic background layer in PhotoShoppe. Now to make a background layer first of all, well, I've selected a lovely romantic image for to replace the background in this, not quite as romantic, it's very dramatic but not very romantic. So what I'm going to do , here is the imagine that I selected. That's going to become my background layer. Here's how we do that. First of all, I would like to create another layer for this picture. So what I'm going to do is select duplicate layer. Just leave it as background copy. It's fine for now. And then I'm going to select this picture. You can just grab your move tool and drag one picture over into the other. It's the easiest way to do that. Now the two pictures are essentially merged in to one. So what I want to do is to drag this layer down here. That puts it in the background. Now there's a couple of different ways I can reveal that background. I can go over here to the eraser tool and select a large brush size and just start erasing away the parts of the imagines that I don't want to see. And as you can see, that is a way to do it. It's somewhat time consuming and a little bit on the clugy side. Now, the other way to do it, simply grab your lasso tool and draw a marquee around, oops I get a little sloppy there, but you'll see what I'm doing. Draw it around the image that you want to keep. Go to select, inverse and just hit your delete key and that will reveal your background. Deselect that area and then just go in and clean up with your eraser tool. Use a smaller diameter so you can get in there and just clean up the areas that your rough work with the marquee left behind. Once you've done your clean up work, you've done a reasonably convincing job of placing your subjects in to a different, more romantic background. I don't know if I would have used a daytime picture of my subjects in to a night time picture of a romantic area but I just wanted to illustrate the ways to do this. I'm Steve Anthony and this has been how to make a romantic background layer with PhotoShoppe."
