"Hi, are you concern about possibly having liver disease? I'm Dr. Savage, an Osteopathic Family Practice Physician from Tampa. I'm here to describe many different symptoms that can indicate that you have liver problems. Those include but are not limited to, first of all, changes in your skin. You can have any type of discoloration and more commonly hyper pigmentation in certain areas and the formation of something called cherry indiamos which are those little red spots on your skin that's tend to pop up more regularly in this type of situation. Other signs of liver disease include jaundice, hence, the yellowing of the skin. But also you could see the yellowing in the eyes, in the mouth. And other more serious situation, conditions of having liver disease include poor production of the proteins that the liver makes which includes but is not limited to, albumin which is the most common protein in the body that is use to keep fluid inside of the blood vessels. Hence, when you don't have enough albumin, you actually have edema which is swelling and most commonly what is, water go with gravity to the lowest extremities. So if you have swollen large extremities, that could be a concern. Another thing that the liver makes is factors for clotting blood. So if you're having trouble with bleeding, that also is something to consider. With all that said, any signs of having liver disease is a serious situation and I recommend seeking medical attention right away. I'm Dr. Savage. I hope this was helpful. I wish you the best of health."
