A symptom is subjective, observed by the patient and not measured. Symptoms may be chronic, relapsing or remitting. They also may progressively worsen or progressively become better. Some symptoms occur in a wide range of disease processes, whereas other symptoms are fairly specific for a narrow range of illnesses. Some symptoms can be misleading to the patient or the medical practitioner caring for them. "You've had that plate of pasta, and it's starting to get you right here. That burning sensation could be a sign of acid reflux. Other signs of acid reflux include a burning sensation in the chest. It also can come up into the throat, give you a little bit of hoarseness or dry cough. One thing to mention in the same vicinity is the heart. If you ever think you might be experiencing signs of a heart attack, call 911 immediately. Otherwise, go see your primary care physician and talk to your doctor about the best medicine for your symptoms and also to talk about preventing potential dangerous complications of having reflux.
