"I'm Gloria Campbell with Advantage Training Systems in St. Petersburg, Florida. How to communicate effectively, one of those things that we all want to do. Good communicators understand that communication is a two way street. You have to listen, and you have to speak. Listening effectively is probably one of the greatest keys to effectively communicating. We...and so often we are ready to give an answer, and we don't even really know what the question is. So develop good, effective listening techniques. That means that you're engaged when someone else is talking. You're not thinking about what you're going to say next. You repeat if you don't understand what they say. You summarize what you thought you heard them say. And make sure that you clearly understand their position and their concerns. Next you want to then, respond. And you respond by make sure you include words and information that they gave you, showing that you are effectively communicating. Remember, effective communication is a two way street. My name is Gloria Campbell with Advantage Training Systems, and all you need to do to be an effective communicator is to listen and respond appropriately."
