"Hi, I'm Linda Wooldridge. So where do you buy your books for homeschooling? After all, you're ready to start your year and all you need are those books to get going. You might want to start with your local teacher supply store, particularly if you like workbooks. That's a great place to find those. And don't forget to look at things like the maps and the manipulatives and the other resources. But once you've done that, you might also want to check for catalogues that deal specifically with homeschoolers. The reason I recommend homeschooling catalogues as opposed to buying traditional textbooks is that homeschooling books are written with you, the homeschooling mom in mind. They don't assume that you are a certified teacher who knows how to teach that subject, and they will lead you step by step. Don't forget to spend the money on your teacher's manuals. They are worth their weight in gold. And at the end of the year, whatever materials you've used you can resell via eBay, other homeschool auctions, or you might even be lucky enough to have a homeschool support group that has an end of year curriculum sale. Incidentally, that will be a great way to buy your books for the following year. So, take a look at homeschool supplies online, get their catalogues, look through them. Decide which books work for your family, you can try and borrow them from your friends, but if you can't find them that way, you can buy them through those companies. By the way, you're usually supporting another homeschool family when you do support a homeschool company. And, then once you've used your books you could resell them. I'm Linda Wooldridge, and that's how you buy a homeschool textbook. Have a great homeschooling day."
