"Hi, I'm Linda Wooldridge. I'm a home school mom, and I'm asked all the time about socialization and my home schooler. Actually we have more trouble staying home then we do being socialized, because there are many many opportunities for home schoolers in our state, and in fact in our county. But if you live in an area where there aren't as many opportunities, then you might want to look at some of the organizations that work with children. Is there a YMCA? Do you have Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts? How about Four H? A lot of home schoolers love the opportunity to the scholarships that Four H has available. If you don't have a support group in your area for home schoolers, you might want to consider starting one and creating some of these activities yourself. You could set up field trips to all kinds of interesting areas for your home schooler. Let's face it, if you're setting it up for your child you might want to include a few friends or maybe even one or two people that you haven't really met yet, because that'll give you an opportunity to make some new home schooling friends. Don't limit yourself to just the age of your own children. Meet people of all ages. It's the beauty of home schooling. So, all you have to do is go to a local park, or set up a field trip, meet up with your support group or join an organization such as scouting or Four H. However you do it, you'll be out of the house more than you ever expected and you'll make some great friends along the way. I'm Linda Wooldridge, have a great home schooling day."
