"Hi, I'm Kim Haertl, with Simply Beautiful, in Austin Texas. Today we want to talk about, one of the most common questions we have in makeup, and that's, how to apply eye makeup. We're going to talk about that in four steps, eyeshadow base, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara. That's going to be the order that you'll want to do your makeup as well. We're going to start with a really good brush, with some eye makeup base, eyeshadow base, I'm just going to place it on the lid, not a lot. This is going to allow your makeup to stay on, keep it from creasing, this is a step that you'll want to blend really well. It's going to give you a blank canvas on which to work, and keep your eyeshadow in one place all day. So, we want to follow the eyeshadow base, with eyeshadow. Now, I'm going to tell you that eyeshadow brushes, really important to getting a really good eyeshadow on your eyes, you want to get it really well blended. We're going to start with a gold tone, because Sarah has hazel eyes, and she's got a lot of gold in her eyes, so we're going to use a gold tone on her lid, just patting it on, and blending it; blending is so important. Going down to the lash line, up on your entire lid. The lid of the eye is anything from here to here, and the crease down to the eyelash. We're going to use a little bit of a highlighter color, on her brow bone. Highlight, I like matte highlights, rather than using a shimmer, you want to just do a matte. What this does, it just kind of gives the eye a little bit of shape, blend, blend the two together (I'm going to ask you to turn your head this way, thank you). Now we're going to use a little bit of a tighter brush, with finer bristles, that are clumped better together, so it gives you more control. I'm going to use more of a- this is a matte brown color for the crease, here's the crease, the crease goes right here, and then we're going to bring it down, so put it on here. You can put it on, just so you can see it, because we're going to blend; and just blending it. Next step is eyeliner. I'm using a pencil eyeliner because it's very soft, and we're just going to go as close to the lash line. And also, a dark brown, because it's going to highlight, (I'm going to ask you to open, look up) and along the lash line at the bottom. Now, we're going to take our smallest brush, we're going to take some of the deeper color that we used, and we're going to go over the liner, just to soften it up (close; open). We don't generally don't go into the corner of the eyes, that'll close your eyes up. The last step, will be mascara. And you want to do a little bit of a downward stroking motion, so you can get the tips of your lashes, and then up. Concentrate your mascara on the outside of your eye, that'll widen your eye up that way (look up). Sometimes we don't put mascara on the bottom, but I like it. And that's beautiful eye makeup."
