"Hi I'm Kim Haertl with Simply Beautiful in Austin, Texas. One of our most common questions is exactly how to apply eye shadow. We are going to talk about three different kinds of shadow one for the lid, one for the crease, a highlighter and we probably will add a deeper color along the lash line as a liner. We are going to begin by putting eye shadow base on. I love eye shadow base because it holds the color on to the eye, keeps it from creasing and makes the colors more vibrant. So just a little eye shadow base. You can get this at drug stores, department stores. We are going to use some plums with Sara's green eyes and we are going to start with a nice bronze on the lid so this is the lid and you want to just take your brush and kind of pat it on the lid. Blending is really important in eye shadow application. So you want to put it on and just blend. Did I mentioned the importance of brushes? Brushes are really really important. you get a good brush and it is really really going to make it much easier. So that is the lid. I am going to take a little bit of a smaller brush that has more tighter bristles and I am going to use a nice matte shadow here in the crease. You want to do it a little bit above the crease to bring your eyes out wider and open them up more so don't just put it right in the line, bring it up a little bit more and then bring it down in the corner like this. You can leave it open but bringing it down kind of just makes your eyes a little more interesting. Again blending is important. You are going to get a softer look with blending. I am going to take a light color highlighter and not very much of this because you just want to put a little here, excuse me and blend it. Now I want to just kind of take a very very darker plum color and I want to bring it across the lash line with a very small brush. This gives you precision and keeps you from having too much eye shadow on the lid. Bring it as close to the lash line as you possibly can and just out a little bit. If you want a more dramatic look bring that darker shadow up into the corners and blend. So that is the basics of putting eye shadow on."
