"Hi, if you've ever gone to shop for a suit you know that no one is the perfect size. So we're going to discuss a little bit about how to do alterations to a suit. My name is Daniel King, I'm a pattern maker and designer. A man's suit typically needs to be altered at the waist of the trouser and how they do that or you can do at home, is to take this at the back of the trouser, there's a seam at the center back, the manufacturer knows that this is often done so they allow for extra fabric inside the pant to allow that seam to be released, or to be taken in even more. This can be untacked at the waistband on the inside, undone, ripped out then sewn to the correct dimensions. And then sewn back and you have a nice seam in the center back and that's all you have to do to let the waist out, or to bring the waist in. Often the cuff of the pant will also need to be adjusted. Sometimes it has a cuff and sometimes it's just a straight bottom to the hem so, you can easily take that up and let that down. In addition, a suit coat or jacket usually will have to be altered at the sleeve for the length of the arm. My name is Daniel King and that's just a little bit about altering suits."
