"Okay folks in this clip we're going o talk about how to network and become a movie director. Here are couple of different routes you can take. Obviously, you can go to film school. In film school you're going to have classmates and your classmates are more than like they're going to follow the same career path as you and hopefully not drop out before this is over. So you can build up a nice collection of friends and contacts just through your school. You can keep their names obviously in your address book and when it comes time to, you know, produce your feature down the road, once everyone's graduated you have, you know, good thirty to forty people that you can automatically call up and ask to lend a hand. Another good route for networking is film festivals. Attend as many film festivals as you possibly can in your area because you need a lot of people obviously. They're trying to do the same type of thing you are. A lot of them will be there promoting their film. If you go and see different people's films, you can get a chance to meet them afterwards and if you like what they did, you could easily develop a relationship there that could ultimately lead to your working on something with them. These are a great way to make contacts; in the way you get to screen, you know, how talented they are beforehand by going to see the work that they've made already. Attending screenings and festivals are not just the producers and directors, but you'll a lot of times have people that work on it, the crew, the actors, people that were involve on, in the business side. I mean there are many, many different types of people that attend these functions. So it's a great way to build that network of working of colleagues that way. And finally another good way to network is to hit up some of the job sites that you can find online, such as Craig's list. People are always posting jobs and opportunities for work. Sometimes there's not very much pay, but in doing these types of jobs, you'll able to meet obviously a lot of people that, you know, later on down in the road when you maybe need a favor and can't afford to pay people; they'll come and help you. You develop a lot of connections that way as well. So these are, these are just a few ways that you can build up a network of friends, but they're all very, very good ones. The film festival route, that film school route, working at whatever project you can, these are all great ways to network and build up your connections if you want to be a movie director."
